Our Story
FTSJS emerged from a non-accredited, independent social work college, Enstiti Travay Sosyal ak Syans Sosya; (ETS), first established in Haiti in 2012, which utilized an idealistic and exciting set of academic offerings and an eclectic and wide-ranging teacher base. Volunteer professors from abroad and Haiti came and worked in different ways (brief onsite intensive and distance learning approaches) with Haitian undergraduates.
With a change in leadership and becoming a campus of the Université Episcopale d’Haiti (UNEPH) in the fall of 2018, FTSJS is now a school that maintains an innovative approach to teaching and learning while offering accreditation and a more structured curriculum.
Being a part of UNEPH offers the credibility of a long - established and renowned Haitian university. Founded in 1920, the main branch of the university is located in downtown Port-au-Prince, with several external campuses throughout Haiti, of which FTSJS is the most recent.
The university is highly regarded, highly selective of its student body and extremely aware of its role in Haiti as provider of quality, diverse undergraduate and graduate programs. It is based on provisions of: 1) solid, traditional academic teaching with a French language focus; 2) Research, and 3) Community Service. FTSJS is proud to be a part of UNEPH, while maintaining its autonomous fiscal and course design oversight.
Our school is located on a secure, private campus in Bon Repos, just north of Port-au-Prince. The campus is shared with Vivario/Perles Noires, a strength-based sports-oriented program for youth, with an environmentally conscious and receptive staff. Dormitory space, classrooms, dining areas, recreational facilities, and an extensive and pleasant open space area is shared and accessible for students, faculty, visitors and staff of FTSJS.
